plainsman5
Has anyone tried to fix the inserts coming apart from the hatches on their older boats? the inserts are separating from the actual hatch lid of my 2004 pathfinder... I assume this has happened to quite a few and was just wondering what was done to fix them? I appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks, Jason

smilemaker
I don't recall seeing delamination on the hatches much. Will things press back together easily or has the two layers deteriorated and allowed dirt and debris to accumulate. To rebond properly things need to come apart completely but if they go together you may be able to use some lightly thickened epoxy and clamp and pray. Wanaflatsfish
This is the first I've ever seen on the forum.... I'd suggest you send a note to Skip and ask advise from the plant on the best course of action... I would assume, as mentioned, some two part resin and a clamp should take care of it, but, the plant would be able to give specifics. fishmanjj
3M - 5200 Marine Adhesive Sealant. Just be sure you clamp it together exactly where you want it to be....because it ain’t coming back apart.
Valhalla
I mixed up some polyester resin and poured in between the two then clamped the edges. I also put weight throughout the middle.
plainsman5
what purpose does the insert serve? More rigidity? why not remove it and the fiberglass the void? I know nothing about fiberglass is why I ask...
