StaynSkinny
Just upgraded to a 22 over my Mirgae. The previous owner just put a starboard plate over the holes in the rear were the pedestal seat plate goes either side of the center livewell. I wanted to install the Swivel Ease Snap Lock 7x7 and just was curious how to access the underneath for bolts, or do you just use screws? I tried doing a search, but did not find anything. Sure there is a previous post. Thank you so much for all the help.
SCFD rtrd.
Did you use a light and mirror in the bilge to see if you can access the area? Unless their is some factory backing in that area, I would not trust screws to hold a chair.
StaynSkinny
great suggestion, I will take a look throught the bilge and see if i can reach. appreciate.
cadd
Most likely you'd need to cut some access hatches on the front vertical section. I have 2 one mine (wedge style) and used large screws and lots of 5200 You can look at mine here Link Travis
SCFD rtrd.
Travis, do you have an access hole in the splash-well? If so, looks like you could reach under there and thu-bolt the mounts.
cadd
No the livewell is in the way, also there is a plastic deal that "tries to neaten up" the area between the livewell and the access area. Not laid out as nice at they are now a days... or at least the last 10+ years
SCFD rtrd.
Thanks, I get the picture now.
fin-addict
there are toggle bolts style fastners to secure helm seat posts bases to deck when access is not possible. used them several years ago. holds very secure. think WM sells them. made by fasco, or google marine toggle style fastners. I just did. garalik also makes them.
cadd
Yep forgot about those, at the time I figured I's use screws and if they failed (haven't in 10+ years) I'd go back with them Garelick
StaynSkinny
Thank you for all the responses and help, previous owner happened to have installed 6" speakers on vertical wall. Was able to remove non-functioning speakers, clear out a little foam and then able to reach with washers and bolts. Going to replace with circle hatch instead of speakers. Finishing job with 12x12 sea deck around seat plates to cover up years of just starboard and n sealant. Now moving on to trolling motor installation

SCFD rtrd.
Yep!! that worked, install looks good. I have a couple of questions; do you have to support the head with something to keep it from bouncing around in a chop? Can you spin the motor over 180 degrees to keep the prop from sticking out so far?
cadd
I don't and use a head support hadn't though about really might be something to think about. The motor can be turned either way.
