JnamJnam Posted October 14, 2019 Report Posted October 14, 2019 Hello All, The red light on my HPX-S just stopped working. Does anybody have any recommendations on how to replace? It appears the light is sealed shut. Should I dig out the seal and replace the bulb (fill back with silicone)? Or do you just replace the whole assembly and rewire. Not much room to play with the wires.
smilemaker Posted October 14, 2019 Report Posted October 14, 2019 It looks to be an led Most common cause of just quit working is a bad ground. Double check the ground and wiring
JnamJnam Posted October 16, 2019 Author Report Posted October 16, 2019 I hear ya. Just dont really have a way to put volt meters on it since it is all sealed up.... All the grounds on my terminal block seem solid.
dabear Posted October 16, 2019 Report Posted October 16, 2019 Use a common test light . Place the clip that normally goes on the ground on hot 12 volt source than push the test light point into the ground wire on your led lamp with the light in the on position . If the light comes on you have a good ground . Next switch the test light clip to a known good ground like direct to battery and push the point in the hot wire (red) with light turned on , test lamp should light up . If not back track the the first spice in the two wires going to the lamp and test the same way . Hope this helps . Joe R
JnamJnam Posted October 28, 2019 Author Report Posted October 28, 2019 So I ended up cutting the wires to the light so I could test the voltage. The light does have correct voltage so I know now that it is the light. Does anybody know whose light Maverick installs. The only "Shark Eye" lights I see online are the TH-Marine ones and they are a slightly different shape.
