I have a pair on the side of the console on my 2007 24TE.  I wanted to put two in the rod lockers as well but they wouldn't fit.  It was very close and probably would have fit if i removed the inserts where the rod buts go in the rod locker but ended up going with 7.7s in the rod lockers and the whole system is still VERY loud.

Two years later to answer my own question, yes M880s fit in the forward location of the 2400 just fine with no modification of the adjacent hatches (replaced the 7.7s). And they sound great! Running 175 watts to each one.

Any idea if they will fit in the front rod lockers on a 2016 22 TRS ?

I don't really know anything about the 22 TRS layout. If you post pictures I can compare to my layout.

Sorry for the late reply. Looking at the face, you have more room than I do. The depth could be an issue. The easy way to tell is take the speaker out and measure the depth and make sure there are no clearance issues. If you decide to go through with it then they sell a hole saw that is the exact size for the M880 that will help greatly.
