Cmurphy
Hello I bought a 95 maverick mirage a couple of months ago and I have been trying to figure out where water is getting into my boat. When I look in the bilge I can see water coming in from where the cap meets the hull on both sides in the bilge. Question is how is it getting there? I have read about the voids behind the rub rail but I don’t think that is my problem as I am still taking on water when the boat is sitting still with the rub rail high above the water. No Livewell plumbing. Just have a crab well with 3 through hull fitting two out the transom and one straight out the bottom.
whichwaysup
So, you see water coming in on the inside of both sides of the hull when the rubrail/cap joint in above the waterline?? Are there any thru-hull fittings around that area??
SCFD rtrd.
It's possible that water is being trapped behind the rub-rail, where the hull and cap connect. When you are sitting still, the stern is lower than the bow, so water is running back and dripping inside the hull. Have you tried just launching the boat, tie it to the dock and look for leaks in the stern area?
