captbruce
Hello MBCForum !! I finally finished my Hewes "refurbishing". It took awhile but it looks great now. New carpet and deck non-skid Teak Horizontal rod Racks (under the gunnels) and all teak sanded and oiled Rewired, where everything works and it's MUCH easier to access; New fuel line THROUGHOUT; New Teleflex control cables; It was a labor of LOVE !! I'm heading back to Key West for the 2016 "Fishing Season", but the Hewes will stay in Sebastian, (Unless I should need it) Merry Christmas to all !! captbruce

captbruce
Thanks, Guys. I'm still getting ready to go to KW. I'm leaving Sunday the 20th. Yeah, I put it on C/list, to see how much interest there was in the boat. I had lots of calls, but only 2 people came to look. One made an offer but we couldn't come to terms. I do love this little Hewes, I think that's evidenced by the time and money I spent working on it. That being said... I try not to form any strong emotional attachments to the boats I've owned, and I've owned a BUNCH. I think this is boat #34 for me. Without seeming callous or being flippant, I consider them "Tools", of my trade. I do have a true "love affair" with my '86 SeaVee. I have used her in the guide business for 40 years. That boat I will probably NEVER sell. I remember someone saying, "Most boats are "For Sale", it's just most of those boats don't have a "For Sale" sign on them". Who can blame a guy for trying ?? Sorry, if I offended anyone. Have a great Christmas !! captbruce
johnd
Really nice looking. Did you build the wood slatted doors on back of console?
captbruce
The PO had all the teak work done originally. When I sanded all the varnish off I could see writing, in felt pen, were it had all been re-varnished in 2004, the year the PO died. captbruce
M.Witkowski
Captain Bruce, had the Hewes out for the first time today. SSW @7, light chop and she handled like a champ! Thank you for allowing me to purchase it from you!
mdemott
Super job. Did you paint the poling platform or powder coat? What is the color?
LarryH
Nothing says "old school" like a side console lappy, with transom mounted pole platform. Nicely done. memories of my 1st trips to the keys, "what kind of boat is that?"! I've wanted one ever since.
