Lowcountry Joe Posted December 14, 2019 Report Posted December 14, 2019 My boat is on a lift and when I return from fishing, I activate my remote for the lift some distance away so the lift is in the water when I arrive. The problem is I can't tell if the lift is going down because it goes slow . What I need is a light on the lift that goes on when the lift is activated by the remote. What I'm thinking is to wire a light on the lift by tapping into the hot wire on the down motor on the lift. Is this possible , has anybody done this, or am I crazy ?
Headhunter Posted December 14, 2019 Report Posted December 14, 2019 I have a motion activated light for the dock area that I have aimed the sensor towards the boat/lift. It triggers when the lift moves as well as movement on the dock. An alternative maybe?
jason p Posted December 14, 2019 Report Posted December 14, 2019 I’m with Chuck’s idea... Simpler is almost always better.
D-linesider Posted December 14, 2019 Report Posted December 14, 2019 We have a motion detector on ours as well. Or you could buy a remote plug. I have this on my outdoor Christmas lights. Not sure what kind of range it has but it works like a charm.
Lowcountry Joe Posted December 16, 2019 Author Report Posted December 16, 2019 Thanks guys , a motion detector light it is .
