I am really not going to mount this on my boat

You could use two parts from the kit, and add the semi-flush aluminum plate with 3/8" threaded hole (pictured - what Hewes uses to mount bench seat backrest) and buy a threaded RAM Tough Ball, part# RAP-379U-371637.  It leaves the deck fairly snag-free and neat looking when the TM is removed from the boat.  When the Rhodan is secured with the RAM Ball Mount, it does not move, bounce or vibrate - no matter how choppy or rough the ride becomes.
