tarpon41 Posted May 14, 2020 Report Posted May 14, 2020 I have a question, is it safe to keep my auto pilot trolling motor (almost five years old working fine) on the boat under a cover? I am totally over taking it in and out of the garage after each run. Im not concerned about theft, but rather the weather (humidity) here in Florida destroying the inner components of the trolling motor itself....FYI i do not live by the beach.... so whats the consensus? thx Quote
smilemaker Posted May 14, 2020 Report Posted May 14, 2020 I would unplug it and leave it on. some of the quick releases have the potential to put a lock on it. it would discourage the casual theft but if someone really wants it they are going to steal it no matter what 1 Quote
fin-addict Posted May 14, 2020 Report Posted May 14, 2020 Have my Tm on boat all the time, still looks good and no problem regarding leaving it out. 7 years now. Last one also 7 years being lest on the boat. Quote
Wanaflatsfish Posted May 14, 2020 Report Posted May 14, 2020 Under a boat cover is fine...just be sure to use it every weekend...it's the non use that kills most marine mechanical things.... I run my TM on the bow to just get everything moving...I do the same with my motor...I have it in a large Horse watering through and it runs while i fiddle with the TM dc Quote
