Wanaflatsfish Posted May 18, 2020 Report Posted May 18, 2020 Hello all, Would like to get some real world pictures. I am considering either an Ameritrail or a continental trailer for my MA17. Can any current owners or those who have had them in the past, please send side view pics of the skiff on the trailer. I am most interested in the height of the bottom of the skiff's gunnel to the pavement and how low in the wheel well the boat sits for launching shallow. I would like the lowest height to allow me to launch the negative or low tides in Chokoloskee and this information would help. I have two quotes in hand (one from Continental and the other Ameritrail) - all stainless, LED's etc. Ameritrail welded, Continental NOT...just trying to see if the Welded bunks and height justifies the $1900-2200 difference. THE OUTLAW Posted May 18, 2020 Report Posted May 18, 2020 Continental does welded bunks also . I also know a guy , who does this thing you speak off . Put dat sled right on the frame . Think he trolls this forum from time to time . 🇺🇸🏴☠️ #SHARKHIDE Quote

wthree3 Posted May 24, 2020 Report Posted May 24, 2020 That was a 18 on a Ameratrail. Upside down but you get the point. Hull was level when the pic was taken. BTW, ID tag on the trailer says 17MA. Not sure you could get any lower. Rear crossmember is pretty low. Quote

DaveC Posted May 26, 2020 Report Posted May 26, 2020 I have a Continental and it's been a great trailer, I think that the choice between the 2 is close and you won't be disappointed with either from a towing / launching perspective. My opinion people! Quote
Coto Posted May 26, 2020 Report Posted May 26, 2020 That Continental skiff trailer definitely looks good also Dino. Decisions..decisions🤔 Quote
Wanaflatsfish Posted June 4, 2020 Author Report Posted June 4, 2020 thank you all for the pics... Made the decision.... Put down a $500 deposit on a 2021 Ameratrail custom trailer for my MA17. More to come.....in 3 weeks. dc Quote
LittleChief Posted June 5, 2020 Report Posted June 5, 2020 Should have checked out Rolls trailers as well. Quote

I did as well....Ameratrail has been the standard for many years... I called them and got a quote....not much of a difference in price and Rolls are very good trailers, but, you have to leave your skiff there....Ameratrail has the JIG for every MHP boat...I just dropped off the deposit and will come back in 3 weeks. d Quote
