fin-addict
Think we’re going to have a new forum member. Grandson in-law just got his first boat. 1995 18’ Redfisher Lappy with a 95’ 115hp yammie. From orig owner and in very good condition. All that’s needed is a TM, has a 8’ Blade PP. It’s loaded and ready to go. 😀😀
jensenjeff
I'm guessing it was the fighting lady yellow edition that was recently posted on craigslist treasure coast. Looked like it was in very nice condition.

jensenjeff
Very nice, the yellow one was also in Stuart but has since been taken down off of craigslist. I'm sure he will enjoy it Edited June 19, 2020 by jensenjeff spelling

fin-addict
The photos of the Lappy. Had mechanic check her out yesterday. All good. Couple items to take care of. Any suggestions as to what style backrest to add. Rod holder type or birdsall style. Mounting plate with screw down brackets. Do not know if room for rod holder mounting. Only took a quick look. Photos would be helpful if you have one.
Lap it Up
Fin, This was my 1998 RF 18. Backrest was perfect. The rod holders had welded caps on the bottom so no water at all got in the hatches. Both hatches opened at the same time when the back rest was on. The cushion snapped under the hatches with four button snaps. You merely folded the cushion toward the console and opened the hatches. fin-addict
Lap, your the man !!!!!!!. Much thanks. One concern I had with this mounting was the stress it put on the hatches due to the lack of thickness and bouncing up against the rest n a chop. Tell me there is NO concern and I’m overthinking, lol . 😀⚓️🙏
Lap it Up
There was a mounting plate underneath that carried the load. I didn't have any stress cracks.
fin-addict
Two additional pics for your pleasure. Full set of cushions that look new, seldom used.

whichwaysup
Ah, those are the smiles of men captaining their own flatsboat. I get that kinda grin everytine I get on mine. Nothing generates testosterone like a grumbling two stroke and 18' of fiberglass eager to explore new water. . .
fin-addict
Kid needs help. His hyd steering went out. Blew the seals on the side mount cylinder in the splash well. The mechanic told him it was starting to leak. Can’t find a replacement unit. Understand center mount will not fit. Any suggestions.
Lap it Up
Do some measuring but i think Uflex will fit without adding setback. I had that old seastar side mount back in the day. Mine corroded the groove where the seal sits. Impossible to find replacement parts. I ended using standard seastar but i had 6" of setback so it cleared the transom no problem. MuddyBottomBluz
I had this mounted on my Redfisher and never had an issue in the 6 years I owned it! http://www.ultraflexgroup.com/en/catalogue/outboard-steering-systems/088089-1/819/side-mount-cylinders.html?lang=2 I loved it because it also allowed for bilge access. The only concern was when dock lines got under the ram but that happened very rarely.
fin-addict
He ordered a replacement, do not know if sea star, bay star or uflex. Thanks much fellas for you information as always. 😀⚓️🙏 fin
