Mike p
Building the PF 2500 Hybrid and trying to decide if this is an option I should add. Thanks
pbspecial
100% Reduces steering effort at the wheel probably 30% and you can add autopilot, which is a fantastic feature to have...
FINCHASER
I didnt and will most likely add it.... it takes a decent amount of effort to steer when turning left. Trimming the motor up so the prop shaft is parallel to the water helps alot but sometimes I hate having to adjust that
jason p
Everyone I know that has it, loves it. That 300 is heavy to the left I admit. I’m just scared of adding three more electronic components to my boat. With that being said I haven’t heard of any reliability issues either. FINCHASER
3.....What am I missing???? Im under the impression all you need is the pump
jh141
I would love to put the SeaStar Soultions power assist on my boat. Only draw back......price........$1500.00 to $1800.00 for the unit depending on where you look. The only other concern is SeaStar says it needs to be at least six feet from the helm or the motor. In my boat that could be a problem.

The pump, 12 volts and splice it into the system. ( six feet from helm or motor )
jason p
Maybe I’m wrong, I thought you needed a electronic pump, helm, and cylinder. I didn’t know you could just splice a pump into the system. Plus on my 2500 there’s three power steering circuit breakers, maybe I just talked myself into believing something in my own head... wouldn’t be the first time.
jason p
I just figured it out, theres Electronic Power Steering and Power Assisted Steering. I thought they were the same thing, didn’t know there was two different systems. Carry on.
FINCHASER
Ok lol just wondered if I had it all wrong. I did find that when I tried an OFX 4 the steering effort was a bit less than the stock 3 and didnt require as much trim to get it to even out
jason p
I’m a big 4 blade fan myself, when this OFX3 is done I’m going back. What pitch were you running?
linesider 159
Do it! I went with the mercury power steering for my 300r. After running my 400 verado theres no way i could go back to no power steering.

I found I liked alot about the OFX4 but not sure I cared for that much stern lift and holeshot was better but still a touch slow for my preference. Interestingly I found myself wondering if an OFX 3 would be a nice blend of attributes of the stock 3 and the OFX4 so interested in what performance you are seeing with the
jason p
I’ll let you know tomorrow, to be honest I never really pay that close attention to the numbers. I’ll try to get you loaded down numbers if I remember when we go tomorrow.
