scseadog
All My console floor is sagging a bit. What's the best approach to reinforcing? Thinking I either put a piece of starboard across the top or try to add perpendicular "joists" under the floor but those would sit on top of poly fuel tank so not sure that is advisable. Thoughts?? smooth move
mine is a 02-2200v and i've had some pretty bad experiences with my fuel tank and my console coming loose. i've made my mind up that the next problem i have i'm going to cut the floor out from the front of the console to the rear of the fuel tank and install a flanged plate that is removable for access to the tank. i had a 72 mako that had a deck hatch like that and while it wasn't the easiest job, it was easier than cutting the deck out.. SCFD rtrd.
How much room do you have between the underside of the floor and the fuel tank?
scseadog
Here is a photo. I am going to say about 3 inches to the fuel lines and 6 to the actual poly tank.
Bamaskeet
I’ve used Hobo’s system to stiffen my floor. I sandwiched the console floor between two aluminum angles just behind the batteries.

smilemaker
whichever way you go do not use starboard. it is actually very flexible and will deform under heat. it is more thermoplastic.
scseadog
I like the Hobo solution of the "aluminium sandwich" approach. I am thinking of using a 3/4 inch starboard to mount my battery holders to and put one piece of angle on top of it and use the angle as a stop for the batteries and one piece under the floor and bolting those together. JPizzle
I just did similar when redoing my batteries for new troller. You can probably search my name. 3/4” starboard and then aluminum angle along the front edge.
