Candle
I have a small leak in the tank of my PP mechanism. I was told that I could use ATF fluid in the tank and to use a small bit of "Stop Leak" in it to seal the leak. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!! Capt. Troy
I would not do that. Call PP and see what they tell ya.
HoneyB
Uhh NO. Personally I would spend the 50 bucks for the new reservoir. If not that just dry to drain it and do a repair from the oust side but no way would I put anything in the oil designed to stick to things and gum up small holes. I wouldn’t want that stuff running through the pump.
Candle
I thought as much, that's why I asked. 2nd question....is ATF OK to use in the reservoir? Thanks, Brian
smilemaker
almost any hydraulic system will love phillips 66 aviation hydraulic fluid. real high specs and tolerances I would drain existing fluid and replace. while apart if the hole in plastic tank is small heat and a knife can usually weld it back together

Thanks, Brian ATF works but Military MIL-PRF-5606 is better. Much less detergents. Its actually the same MilSpec as SeaStar fluid but military fluid is dyed red for better leak detection. Drummer
Power Poles ship with a biodegradable hydraulic fluid. Pretty smart. If they ever leak, which is likely if you own one long enough, you won't be polluting. As much.

jh141
X2, X3, X........on PPs biodegradable. Two reasons, Very easy to clean up and easy on the environment. Imagine if you had a line break at your favorite fishing spot. I have had to replace my reservoir three times. Its is a Parker product so not Power Poles fault, They have sent me new reservoir each time. I think it is the way its was mounted. 19 hours ago, Candle said: Thanks everyone! mustang190
I placed a piece of foam under the tank to dampen the vibration. No more problems.
