AGlass
I'm looking for some advice for removing the carpet and glue under my gunnels so I can replace the carpet with either Seadek or Dekit. There appears to be lots of glue used on the factory install. I'll post some photos as soon as I can. 2005 Hewes 16 Redfisher with 115 SHO on a 6" Bobs jackplate. MuddyBottomBluz
AGlass, Trust me when I say you are not the only one who has dealt with the glue issue. There is a topic already on here with lots of solutions. Mine was to use paint remover, put it on and wipe off in about 20-30 seconds. No hard scrubbing, no gelcoat damage, worked great for me! gnarlydog
I did the same project on mine last year. There are many different products that'll get the job done. I used a fume free oven cleaner product on mine and it did a pretty good job on the stubborn spots.
SouthernWake
Heat gun and scraper. Good news is that since you are covering it back up it doesn't need to be perfect or fully removed.
East Coast Dave
worked like a charm. Bought it at Ace.

It was fine for me, did not affect the gel coat when I did it. I did not do what RacerV6 did. I just brushed it on and as soon as the glue started lifting I used a plastic scraper to remove it, easey peasy, wipe clean.

AGlass
All done now. Heat gun for the majority of the removal then I used de-solv-it. I was happy with how well the heat gun worked.
