Popular Post Chief5130
Ordered the new motor first week of December and got it 2 weeks ago. Long wait, but finally got it. So with my karma I had one of the trailer tires delaminate on the way home. I was about 30 minutes away from home when I started to notice the vibration. It was pretty bad. Bad enough to shake one of the trailer signal lights apart. So 2 new tires (upgraded from "D" to "E" rated) and new lights and waiting for weather good enough to go boating. Get out for a couple of hours today and the new gauge does not work. So have to go back and get it replaced. Fortunately the new motor talks to my Garmin so I can break in the motor. I will say that it is very quiet and smooth running.

I got 2000 for the trade in.

Chief5130
No, that is the original windshield. It looks shorter because of the storage box on top of the console and I cut the grab rail off at the top of the console. The grab rail over the windshield was right in my line of sight and the glint of the sun on it was not worth it.

The big improvement is the MPG. Best with the Yamaha was 3.8, now 5.2, some times better. I have one more prop coming.

Yes, Suzuki is the quietest motor out there. Since we spend a lot of time in the vicinity of wildlife, quiet is our number 1 factor in choosing a motor. When we got the first Pathfinder, a 2000V, the dealer very strongly encouraged the Yamaha. Said the boat was designed with the Yamaha people for the best performance. The Yamaha is a 9 on the 1-10 scale of noise with 10 being the quietest. The Suzuki is a 10. Best of luck with it!

I did have a couple of Suzuki in the past, a 50 hp and a 90. Often, while pulling up to a dock, folks would call out, "is that thing running??". I'll check out the next Honda I see out on the water, might have to crank up the "quiet scale" to an 11.

That was my experience with a Honda also--just like their lawn motors, motors for power washers and generators---super quiet!
Eastwood79
I had a Honda 50 fuel injected and you could hear the water coming out of the tattle tale at idle.
Chief5130
Yes, it is very quiet. It is so quiet that they have a feature that will not engage the starter when it is running, as I guess that was an issue on earlier models. Chief5130
One more note. I took the motor for its 20hr. service. Talking to Bill, the owner, he told me he sold the motor I traded in. I was wondering how long it would take as most boats in this part of the world have 25" transoms. Well he sold it to a gentleman that has it on a 18" Hewes Redfisher. I thought that was some karma keeping it in the family so to speak.
nhinshoreangler
That is a great motor for an 18 Redfisher. I had 1200 flawless (other than carb cleaning) on mine. That motor never let me down!
