makomark
My SUV blew an engine and looking to see how small I can go to pull my MA 18.5. What SUV are you using. I know the big boys will work, I want to know how small you are going and how are they performing for your boat size.
THE OUTLAW
Heard the Explorer , with the 3.5 Eco is a good choice . 🇺🇸🏴☠️

fishmanjj
My only comment would be to make sure whatever you buy has a tow package with a decent transmission cooler....all of those mid size SUV’s will pull the boat, but the smaller transmissions get pretty hot while towing. wthree3
4Runner with 4.0 V6 pulls my 18 Master Angler just fine but wouldn't go much smaller. Lexus GX460 would be a good choice. Its the same as a Land Cruiser Prado (sold overseas) and about the same size as the 4Runner but with a V8.
SouthernWake
I have used my wife’s V6 4 runner on long trips to FL. It tows fine but the big difference is in stopping. you can feel a huge difference between the SUV and a full size truck.

Toeknee217
I tow my Redfisher 18 with a 2002 Jeep TJ 4.0 with manual trans. Is it the best? hell no. Is it the most fun... yup!
RacerxV6
So my neighbor pulls his 19' Ranger Deep V fish and ski which I am sure out weighs the 18.5 MA by plenty with his 2021 Toyota Tacoma with tow package or his wifes 2020 Toyota Highlander "tow package also". They are retired and they are gone 4 days of the week fishing lakes all around SC. He has said nothing but good things about the horse power and the towing abilities. Me personally I would by a Ford Explorer or a Dodge Durango...Just me 😁
16bayfisher
2021 gx460. Super nice, drives great, pulls great, AWD. Holds it value well too.

Drummer
Just *** it up and get a Land Cruiser! Then when you get a bigger boat, you won't need another vehicle.
Capt. Troy
You can tow with just about any SUV. But handling and stopping is what a lot of them don't do well! If I'm towing it's gonna be with a full size what ever. Not mention the wear and tear on the lesser vehicles.

DonV
About the sticker shock. My brother-in-law had picked out a 2020 Ford F250 XLT diesel (dealer had four just a like on the lot). Had a deal at $62K, told the Brandon Ford salesman he could not buy it right then due to no where to park it, but would be back in two to three weeks to pick it up, cash deal. Went Saturday to buy it and the same exact truck was now $68k due to the impending truck shortage because of the processor supply problems. The dealer would only give him back $2k off the $68k because they did have a written "deal", however with no money down.....that was the best they would do. It's time to take a tube of K-Y jelly with you when buying trucks.

Bikes , food , wood , boats, cars , trucks , houses . Due to supply and demand things are outrageous. Maybe if everyone could figure a way to delay there purchase until things style down than the manufacturers would realize that people are not going to buy something at this time and get stuck upside down with a house , boat , car , truck that they owe 20% more than it is worth . This may not be the time to make a large purchase . It happened in the house market about 18 years ago and it hurt borrowers and lenders for years . People where walking out of homes that they had been making payments on for years . 2
HewesYourDaddy
I used a 2011 Jeep Wrangler to pull my Hewes and my Pathfinder for several years. I only made short stints to the marina or boat ramp, but it did fine. I wouldn't want to use it for towing long distances or on the interstate.
