jh141
My suggestion is you now spend as much time as possible on the inter web researching your area. Penn Spin Fisher are good reels. The 7500 and 8500 would be considered good Large tarpon (or the like) reels with a longer rod and good bottom fishing reels with a shorter jigging rod. Find as much Youtube info as you can for your area and type of fishing you are interested in and learn from there. Another great resource is your local bait and tackle. They can help a ton and if they have the rods you like and need you and you buy from them you will have a resource for life.
Shallowminded6
This has some good info if you are doing inshore. There is no rod/reel that is really good at doing both inshore and offshore as the fish are much different in size.
fin-addict
You don’t mention size of or type of boat. Reels could pair up nicely with 7’ 40lb class rods for tarpon, shark and snook around docks. Same setup for nearly anything offshore.
