Big Dave Posted July 20, 2021 Report Share Posted July 20, 2021 The Army Corps of Engineers just announced Plan CC as their preliminary selection for the new Lake Okeechobee Systems Operating Manual (LOSOM). This will dictate lake releases for the next DECADE! Please use your voice as a constituent to let them know where the plan needs to be tweaked to reduce future harm to our waters. This was a big announcement and the one we were hoping for, but the approved plan is only a starting point. It needs significant improvement, especially in matters that affect the Caloosahatchee River system and the areas near San Carlos Bay. By 8/14, the Corps will have to solidify the framework so they can move forward to "optimization". So, over the next couple of weeks, they'll be considering any major mod's that need to be made to the initial section. Please take just a second or two (literally!) to send a message to the Corps!
