HenrysCreek
I’ve got an in-hull OEM light out on my ‘99 18.5 MA. Thinking about swapping them out for LED’s. Is there a source for swapping out the entire running lights/unit for LED’s? Thanks! Edited April 20, 2022 by HenrysCreek
polliwog
You can get LED bulb replacements for the shark style fixture at West Marine. I had an issue with my Hewes LT OEM light bulbs and swapped out and they fit right in. Much better light intensity. That was about 3 yrs ago. Worth a try.
jim33042
Yes, marpac makes a ss model7-6595 and a blackout model 7-6596 SS model https://www.walmart.com/ip/Marpac-7-6595-Boat-Marine-LED-Advantage-Side-Lights-Flush-Mount-Shark-Eye/912956150 blackout https://www.ebay.com/itm/254789661292 I have SS model, it was exact fit from the original on ‘00 bayfisher. These have a clear lens, the back is marked green and red for installation. I’ve had mine for several years and no issues. I tried the led bulb replacement, they worked ok, but the sun turned the original green lens almost black. Even with a powerful led bulb, I was only getting a minimal ‘glow’.
polliwog
It sounds like there are 2 options depending on your situation. Good news
HenrysCreek
Yep. Ordered these yesterday. Will post up some pics in a few days when they’re installed. I measured twice and the appear to be the exact same size as the originals. https://mvpextreme.com/products/marpac-7-6596-boat-marine-led-red-green-side-lights-flush-mount-shark-eye-black?_pos=5&_sid=95cb51941&_ss=r
