fin-addict
Grandson in-law has 96 18’ Redfisher w/115 yam 2 stroke. Has to wot to get on plane then back off to cruise. Wants to know if this is the norm. Does not tab down while doing so. Suggest he does a bit. I have never been on boat to try myself. Going to find out what 3 ss blade he’s running. What do you all suggest for that rig, size/pitch. What should his wot rpm and mph be with two onboard. Just had it’s annual maint. done yesterday by mechanic. Clean bill of health. Thanks much. 😀👍⚓️Fin
smilemaker
Is the prop vented and what rpms is he at to get it on plane. If it is sluggish and slow to get the rpms it may be too much prop or just needs some vent holes added to let it spool up
MuddyBottomBluz
I had a 13 x 17 4 blade on my Redfisher totally different boat after that. No blow outs, bite in corners and would make the bow jump up on plane within 3-5 seconds. That was with a Johnrude 115 but the change was amazing! Keep us updated Fin!
fin-addict
My son and owner are out right now running some numbers. Do not know much about the prop right now. Did suggest a four blade to him. Found out the stb tab is not working so it will be impossible to trim out properly. Tabs up only. 👍
fin-addict
Just got some more info the other day. He’s running a 13 7/8 x 17, wot mid 40’s @ 5500 rpm. Thinking about a 4 blade 17 for better hole shot. Down the road a JP but does not know much about them and set back. He’s running a 115 yammy 1995 same as sled. geeviam
Fin, 13 7/8" diameter is a bit large for the motor to spin. He could reach the same maximum RPM (5500) with a 13 1/8" x 19 pitch 3-blade and gain some speed, hole-shot and fuel economy. The vented Michigan Apollo XHS 19 pitch is a good performing and inexpensive 3-blade in that size. For quicker hole shot and superior grip in hard turns, a 13" x 17 pitch 4-blade Merc Spitfire X7 is a great option, but more money. Other props worth mentioning but more expensive: Powertech PRO3 19 (vented), Evinrude Raker 18 or 20 (large vents!) with a Yamaha rubber hub installed.
