fishtaco
Looking at a boat with a 2005 VMAX 150. Is a 2005 VMAX carbed or HPDI? Or did they make both that year?
Miss Jazzy
They made both. If it don't say ox66 fuel injected on the cowl it's probably carbed.
hurricane
They may have made 3 versions. Carb'd which will have all black cowl. OX66 fuel injected, will have same cowl as carb'd but with OX66 sticker. And HPDI, will have big grey kinda wing on the top aft of cowl.

fishtaco
I had the exact year and HP engine. Mine was carbed. The one I'm looking at is carbed, how did you like yours? Good motor?
hurricane
I have a carb'd model. It runs great, I've been happy and have had no issues. However, its not my first choice of motors. Would rather have an HPDI. That said, when you find a great condition boat at a fair price you can't be too picky. Downside, its kinda thirsty but usually I don't make long runs. I don't find its as responsive as a fuel injected motor. I always worry about having to rebuild carbs, but so far so good. Hopefully to prevent carb problems, I never let the motor sit too long. If I don't get out, I run it on the hose once a week.
Nag Juice
It ran good, but right before I sold the boat I almost repowered bc was thirsty and loud. It popped after I sold it. 500 hours....
fishtaco
Kind of hard to beat a carbed Yamaha, surprised it let go after only 500 hours Nag!
Nag Juice
Yeah it let go right after I sold it. I love my 18MA but I wish I still had that 22.
