gamecocks2001
I hit a sandbar Sunday and when the cooler in front of the console shifted it pulled two of the screws out of the deck. The question here is can I just get a little longer screw and hope it goes deeper and grabs new fibergl*** or should I try to fill the holes and then reuse the same screws? If I need to fill the holes, what should I use? The boat is a 2004 1900V with the cooler tied down in front of the console. Should I worry about the gas tank and the longer screws? SCFD rtrd.
The first thing I'd try is a longer screw. First take a paperclip or piece of solid wire and probe the existing screw holes. You should be able to hear it hit the gas tank if it's there. That will also tell you how long of a screw you can use. If that method works, use a little adhesive caulking on the screws. You can also fill with MarineTech the holes and re-drill... Also, use 5200 or even a Marine Epoxy under the Kennedy and it will hold it in place...the epoxy is not go allow you to remove it easily.... dc
