adding rod holder under the gunwale

It plan to purchase a used Pathfinder 22.  The Pathfinder 22 models that fit my budget are older and don't have the under the gunwale rod storage on port and starboard sides of the boat.  Would it cost a fortune to have someone modify the fiberglass under the gunwale of a 2010 to 2014 Pathfinder 22 to add in rod holders on the port and starboard side?  Or would it cost a lot and make it not worth it.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I thought about adding them to mine as well. I think buying the inserts and screwing them in would not require fiberglass work. I think the box itself would be rigid enough on its on. Looking around boat outfitters has starboard built boxes for over 600 bucks each. The plastic molded ones look cheap to me but much cheaper. 
 I ended up adding rod holders on top of the gunnels which would have ended up dropping into any side mounted rod holders so I scrapped the idea of the under gunnel storage.

I don’t think you have much useable room between the liner and hull.

Very little  usable space.

I would  remove a rod holder to get an idea.

Just an idea. If you have rod holders on the back of leaning post put a couple of bolt on there too.

Thanks for the tips.  However, I should have been more clear.  I like the under the gunwale storage because I really only use fly rods.  My fly rods are 9 feet long so the under the gunwale storage looks like a great option to store them out of the way when not in use.

Had the same problem on my 2007 te. Was not willing to take a saw to the fiberglass!

Instead I made some vertical fly rod holders. A few companies make some very nice ones that you can attach to coolers, console , bulkheads etc. 

Was a better option for me.
