Fastfish
New to me 2007 2200xl with F150 25” shaft. Boat is in great shape and motor runs strong at 2300hrs. Would like some more power though. Repowering it seems like a 250hp is the only way to go. Now I see some are putting 20” shaft engines on this boat. It’s a 25” transom unlike the 2200v I believe. Advantages and disadvantage of a 20”vs 25” 250hp from any of the big three manufacturers?
Bamaskeet
The factory put a 10-12” jackplate and mounted a 20” SHO on the 2200XL. I don’t know exactly why the factory did this, but I’ve run a couple of the XL’s done that way and they run fine.

brune90
slightly less weight with 20" over a 25" though partially negated by extra weight from extra setback required. SHOs were originally only equipped with 20"
redzone1
you will have to put a 10” set back jackplate on that hull if you want to run a 20” shaft motor. I would just buy a 25” shaft F250 or SHO250 and skip adding the jackplate and the expense that goes along with that.
