texasangler
Thought I would share a fix I came up with on a new to me 2018 2600 TRS. This appears to be design flaw that has since been addressed on the newer models with a thicker portion of the hatch added. The previous owner had someone too large riding up front in rough conditions and punch through the front hatch underneath the backrest support. Other side is lightly cracked as well. It was repaired it previously but it didnt look great and wasnt strong enough so I came up with the following fix. 1. Ordered 3.25"x7" 316 1/16" plate from onlinemetals.com 2. Drilled out the sheets to all have the same hole locations 3. Bolted up the bottom side first (temporary) and bedded (silicon) 4. Filled the hole with MarineTex 5. Bolted the top side on (and bedded) 6. Tighten up everything to squeeze the MarineTex into all the voids and let cure. For the side that was just cracked I used the plates as a template to drill the holes, bedded everything with silicolon, then bolted it all up. This should provide much better weight distribution and prevent further issues. Hope this helps someone with a similar issue.
MidnightBlue2600TRS
Thank you very much for this. My port support just punctured through on a normal day on the lake. I’ll be doing this to both sides.
16bayfisher
Nice professional looking fix OP. If this is indeed a common flaw, MBG should at least supply the plates to owners upon request.
