NNFD197
Is the spring under tension when it's closed or open? I'm trying to see if mine is bad or not. I'm hoping that no tension means its open and that mine is bad. If thats not the case, then I don't have to drive 45 minutes to pick one up. TIA
FINCHASER
Im completely unfamiliar with that type of design but comparing it to other versions I am familiar with Id bet the spring is under tension when open. Water pressure would "push" and open where your thumb is pressing and exit (release pressure) thru the holes in the round pale colored plastic. Plus looking at a new one, they come out of the box closed/no tension. So unfortunately for me, a bad pcv isn't my overheating issue. Thanks for the reply, you're the only one who did out of two forums.
FINCHASER
Well hold on....Lets talk about this tension aspect. assuming im understanding correctly how that pcv works there would always be tension on that black plastic piece your thumb is pressing down on..... so what are you feeling when you press it and release it? If pressing it down is super ez (little or no tension) then that would be a problem... like wise if its movement is not smooth (sticky / gritty) thats not good either. Just saw your overheat thread and PCV can cause low speed overheat Ill make a reply over there regarding PCV and overheat
