HoustonHurricane
In the market to repower my 2007 Pathfinder 2400TE. It’s got the original Yamaha 250 HPDI on it. Looking to hear from those owners that have repowered. Manufacturer, HP, Prop Has the weight of a newer four stroke changed the ride/functionality of your boat? Bamaskeet
Most people put 250 SHO’s on a 2400, if you need a little more top end you can have it tuned. 1
George Seither
250 SHO would be my choice and of course I’m running one on a 2300, running Powertech OFS 4R 21 pitch, lots of buzz on Mercury Bravo 1 22 pitch and Yamaha Saltwater series both 4 blade, you should see a gain in MPG.
fin-addict
250 SHO but would look into the Zukes before I pull the trigger.
Chief5130
I looked at both Yami and Suzuki. Went Suzuki as it was a much better deal and the reviews from the commercial guys that use them every day was stellar.

Thanks looking at a 2017 Suzuki 300 with about 300 hours, but was concerned with the additional weight on the transom. I think Zuk weight is listed at about 630#’s, or about 10%+ more than Merc and Yammy SHO.

Didn’t change the ride much negatively?

Only 18 lbs more, less of a difference if you include the loss of the oil tank.
redzone1
I know someone who repowered a 2004 Pathfinder 2400 from an 25” F225 to a 20” shaft 250SHO. all he did was add a 10” setback jack plate and bolted it on. It ran mid 50’s wide open. Saved a lot of weight going from the F225 to the 250SHO.
Moderator
Mercury makes those light V-6’s up to 225 hp. Check the weight on them. The new 4 strokes were heavy on the 19, 22, and 24 V- models. The XL hulls had extra flotation to accommodate the weight. Make a chart of the weight of the original motor and oil gear, then the weights of the options.. See what you are talking about in todays motors. Many owners moved batteries, gear, and/or coolers forward to keep the decks flush and draining properly. George Seither
All 250’s Merc provides 85 amp alt, Yamaha 70, like MM states rebalance may be required to keep the boat draining properly XSPro 505 SeaPro 527 SHO
Moderator
The 3.4L V-6 motors are said to weigh 475# on the Mercury site. That’s not far off from the HPDI you are replacing. It is only 225 hp and not the 250 from the strong HPDI.. I just looked and the old 250 HPDI weighed 550 lbs.. Let’s see if anyone has input from their repower.. ? MM I agree....get the engine you feel is best...and you can move alot of weight forward to compensate.... dc
