fishingfool485
Heys guys , quick question. I’m having some issue when putting my boat in the water. I own a 25 and the bow roller catches the trolling motor when I go to dunk the boat. Has anyone else had this issue? The trolling motor is a Terrova Any fixes out there. SCFD rtrd.
Your bow roller may be mounted too high. Or, you may be backing the trailer in too deep. When you back in too deep, the stern rises and that causes the bow to drop abruptly as the boat moves backwards. Before you make any changes to the bow roll, try backing the trailer just deep enough launch the boat. 1
fishingfool485
Ok I’ll try that. Just weird it’s an ameritrail built for that boat.
Chief5130
Might also be that you are backed in to far so it lifts the stern enough to catch the trolling motor.
George Seither
Agree with Chief and SCFD, there is a sweet spot where she’ll launch easy and one she’ll load without contact to the roller or trolling motor had to relearn mine on the 2300 from my old boat
fishingfool485
I usually have my son back me in. We kind of do it in stages. Once the boat makes its first move I stop him then he backs up some more. It always catches the trolling motor. Should I try spraying my bunks with some type of silicone so the boat comes off easier on that first drop?
Bamaskeet
I don’t have any issues launching my 2500 and catching the trolling motor. I do spray, just the front half of my forward bunks, with silicone every couple of months. My wife backs me in slowly and I start the motor as soon as it has enough water and normally the boat is starting to slide off the trailer as I put the motor in reverse.
fishingfool485
I am going to definitely spray my front bunks then. Thank you
fishingfool485
Any specific silicone spray?
rckeat
Liquid Rollers works well. https://www.crcindustries.com/liquid-rollers-174-trailer-bunk-boards-lubricant-10-wt-oz/
fishingfool485
Awesome. On it. Thank you everyone 👍
Chief5130
I also use Liquid Rollers. One word of caution, do not unhook the boat until it is over the water, it works that good.
fishingfool485
Great advice. Will do. Thanks
pbspecial
I have the same issue, it really depends on the ramp angle and how deep the trailer needs to be for that specific ramp. So, I just take it off and put it on the front deck when I launch and then put it right back on once the boat is in the water.
fishingfool485
Good idea. I’m going to try not backing it in as far first. If all else fails I will take your advice. I’m tired of replacing cracked plastic pieces.

I open the anchor locker, pull the pin and push it back and it sets down into the locker just enough to stay put until I launch.
fishingfool485
That’s perfect. I was thinking of a way to save my back. Thank you
