I just posted a question on MS about shrimping - I'll be up on the Neuse for a week in September and cast netting shrimp is one of the items on the agenda. George Seither Posted August 21, 2023 Author Report Share Posted August 21, 2023 Whichway Purchased from a local trawler down in Lafitte La like we have for years, we support our local fisherman they need to support, I know where the money goes when we support him, Boat, Fuel, Repairs and Family. He is pushing skimmer netting pushing at night in the Grand Isle area. I quit dragging bottom trawls for recreational purposes a number of years ago with Dad, we use to scout on fishing trips or nosing around, birds feeding, shrimp jumping in front of the boat, large bays leading to open gulf, most of these skippers are running detailed logs on catches over the years of fishing. The Lafitte/Barataria estuaries with the current water temps have produced this year for Brown and White Shrimp. The issues they face is the amount of imported shrimp hitting the processers which is another story that involves politics I won't bring up on the site. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
