HenrysCreek
Two big brackets, two 8’ Power poles… Hoping I don’t drop the engine to the ground and break a couple of toes before the MBG event next month! 😂 Wish me luck! I’ll try to take some videos and/or some pics of the install. Boat lift is being finalized tomorrow too at my new place so hoping to get these done to do some fishing this weekend!

whichwaysup
HC - Just as an FYI - we did not have to completely remove the engine when we installed mine. We braced it, removed the bolts on one side and loosened them on the other. Worked very well.
HenrysCreek
Thanks. I’m a one armed paper hanger this weekend. Got the new boat lift installed and a couple of little projects. Time to get her wet again fish the outgoing tide. I’m going to drop it off at my mechanic on Monday and let him handle it.

Congrats on the lift. Always exciting getting new gear setup. If I may ask what MBG event next month?

fishmanjj
I’ve seen bow eye pulled out at a lift, but that’s a first for me to see it corroded through and split in middle.

HenrysCreek
Fortunate that it doesn’t appear to have done any fiberglass damage. A testimony to how strong they were building them at the time. Hopefully it’s not full of 5200 on the backside.

smilemaker
Almost looks like electrolysis. Was there anything grounded to or connected to the inside nut
HenrysCreek
I haven’t taken a look at the inside yet. Tomorrow mornings project after fishing. Priorities! 😉

smilemaker
Mine are at least 10 years also. There are 2 versions. Regular metal and stainless steel. Take a guess which ones will last over 10 years.
Moderator
I have the same straps now for 10 years and they still work great.

Moderator
All I can think of… is a steel hook on a chain, dogged down to the trailer.. maybe the safety chain on a trailer with a bad ground ? Those bow rings are strong as heck! Usually. Thats a first for me too. Luckily an easy fix.( on the trailer !) MM
HenrysCreek
The nuts and all of the threads were perfect. We did it on the lift and it took about an hour because we cut off the hook part to give better access for a wrench. Access to the interior bolts was another matter. Ended up cutting a bigger access with a jigsaw as I couldn’t get my arm to both nuts inside. Needs a little clean up and gelcoat, but we made a pretty clean cut. The next owner will appreciate the easy access 24 years from now when it’s time to replace it again!
