Joe Crato
Heading down next month, looking for decent areas around Islamorada to castnet up some pilchards? TIA
Tails Up
We have been going down in October for the last 15 years and have never found bait spots to be consistent, especially for pilchards. Best advice is just look for diving pelicans early morning on the Atlantic side. You will find smaller white bait along the shoreline motes of many of the islands in the backcountry. Big caution, watch out for the upside-down jelly fish. They can kill everything in your well in a matter of minutes. My wife and I will be down four a couple of weeks next month as well. If I find any consistent spots I will let you know. Good luck.
Tails Up
If you are heading down there is plenty of pilchards in the cut between Shell Key and the Island to the west of it.
