whichwaysup
Hey all! I had BOTH of my trailer guide posts break off right at the bend. They were rusting there, and apparently the 5.5 mile dirt road to our New Bern VRBO was too much for them. (Took out one of my taillights and my license plate too!) Frankly, I was surprised to see them rusting after only a few years anyway. Anyone have a good recommendation for some that will last? The current ones bolted inside the aluminum tube cross member on my trailer.
jh141
I replaced mine with a set made out of aluminum, my originals were galvanized. Problem is I sourced from a local trailer shop called Ames Trailer.

whichwaysup
Thanks! Unfortunately that dirt road claimed the entire assembly. . . And apparently ate them because we never saw them again!
MuddyBottomBluz
What I did was fill up the bottom of the guide on with closed cell foam and epoxied the end and obviously the guide top end PVC pipe guide will have a cap on it so no water can enter either way. Bamaskeet
My theory is that the guide posts are galvanized on the outside but not on the inside, so they rust from the inside out.

HenrysCreek
I bought these a few months back and they’re awesome. Also a big fan of ETrailer.com. Their videos and support are terrific. https://www.etrailer.com/Boat-Trailer-Parts/CE-Smith/CE27740.html?feed=npn&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIteGHr4fCgQMVB1RyCh3qBwnXEAQYASABEgI0X_D_BwE
