tommat
Looking at one now with no power, new fuel tank and looks to be in really good shape. Can anyone offer the good/bad opinions of this year model Hewes? Thanks,,
geeviam
Capt. Rick Murphy had a new one with a Yamaha 175 back in that year. I fished with him on that boat. It was very fast and still had a nice ride. Up until 2021, it was the only model Hewes ever made with a pad on the keel for lift and speed. jim33042
A neighbor had a 1999 with a 150. He blew that up and dropped a 200 on it, ridiculously fast with a 200, but downside was stress cracks to cap. Also had to plug scuppers with people in boat. I would suggest to stay with a 150. Classic....I"d keep the engine as light as possible....115 4 stroke will push it all the fast you need.... Do a deep dive on it or you might end up with a Rebuild.....also, check the trailer......the wrong trailer can damage the hull....I'd invest in a good Ameratrail or Continental....and you will be happy you did.
