johnd
Met Rep last night, complained the I Pilot hand remote frequently goes "dead"....simple fix he said. It's the "pin" battery contact. Pry up a little or wedge a folded little piece of paper to keep contact in touch with battery. I plan to try this
triplec
Interesting. Happens on every one of their remotes I have had that I recall ...one would think they would remedy it...giving it a try.
johnd
I cut a tiny square of business card stock, folded paper was too thick. Just large enough to spread over edges of the cut out behind the pin. Next up: real world test
johnd
Fished hard Friday morning, used TM in anchor mode to hold in strong current. At no time did the remote die! Screen would blank, but first touch to change direction & move and immediately responded. Note to Minn Kota Engingeers: include tiny piece of business card under battery pin. mustang190
I did the same thing you suggested with the business card. Works!

Headhunter
John d thanks for a great post on the I pilot remote. We fished a tournament Saturday and the remote died, changed the battery, nothing, bent the little tabs, nothing. Needless to say we didn't do well. Gave up with it and ordered a new handheld from Minn Kota on Sunday. Read your post and went out and got the old one and added the business card.........guess what it worked. Just did the one on the other boat as well. This is why this forum is so great!
