Miamimuttonman Posted December 11, 2023 Report Posted December 11, 2023 (edited) Hi folks my name is Benny for short. I’ve been fishing south Florida for 48 years. The last 20 plus years there’s been no hotel in Flamingo and finally, I was able to be one of the first to rent November 28 for two great nights. The restaurant was in the works and was opening soon as well. My son and I and a couple of friends got out there in search of some Cobia but they completely Avoided us the whole trip. We did find some snook action inshore including one keeper that was dinner, along with many released and plenty of Mack’s out on the gulf side. Here’s some pics of our trip. Tight lines to all Edited December 11, 2023 by Miamimuttonman 2 Quote
lemaymiami Posted December 12, 2023 Report Posted December 12, 2023 Great report.... just nothing like the 'glades... Quote
SeaSerpent123 Posted December 13, 2023 Report Posted December 13, 2023 How did you like the lodge? Did you pull the boat out or leave it in the Marina? Nice to see those macs have arrived. Quote
lemaymiami Posted December 13, 2023 Report Posted December 13, 2023 Let me chime in... exactly how close to your room can you park your boat/trailer? Key question for those that are staying there with boat... Quote
Big Dave Posted December 14, 2023 Report Posted December 14, 2023 There is parking under the units and a big parking lot out front, between the units and the park road. Quote

I asked about the parking for boats and there is a lane you can pull in right across the lodge or across the street. Only issue is no power to charge batteries for the trolling motor from what I hear. Maybe someone can chime in if they found a outlet or not. Quote
lemaymiami Posted December 18, 2023 Report Posted December 18, 2023 I bring a one hundred foot extension cord for places where I can park my boat reasonably close to my room - then snake the cord out a window and I'm in business... Must admit though, that these days I'm rarely staying overnight anywhere - just commuting back and forth day in and day out (and clocking nearly 200 miles towing per day fished...). Just one more "business expense" at the end of every year... Quote
Lulu Posted May 21, 2024 Report Posted May 21, 2024 Hi. We are staying at the lodge and would love a boat tour of Florida Bay. Maybe my husband would fish. We are on a road trip, so not really set up for fishing. More seeing the sites. Do you offer this? Thanx. Lulu 1 Quote

lemaymiami Posted May 31, 2024 Report Posted May 31, 2024 Have to speak up... An email to [email protected] will get you a brochure by return mail.... Long time guide in the Park - my first time there was in 1974... been a full time guide there since 1996. Sightseeing or fishing (or both) - Florida Bay, the backcountry (Whitewater and Oyster Bays, including the Shark River area), or combine the two and do a round trip through both areas with someone that's been running the 'glades, saltwater, brackish areas, and freshwater for years and years... 3 Quote
jh141 Posted May 31, 2024 Report Posted May 31, 2024 I Have to put a Recommendation in..... Capt. Bob Lemay has Extensive Knowledge of S. Florida and Especially ENP. Great Guide! 1 Quote

lemaymiami Posted June 3, 2024 Report Posted June 3, 2024 A few years back at the very end of his guiding career Bill Curtis said this when I asked him if he getting enough bookings.... He said it all... "Boy you never have enough bookings..." On Saturday I fished a long time client out of Flamingo... yesterday I worked on another fellow's skiff out of Port of the Islands... This week - not a single booking at the moment - but that's the way it goes... 2 Quote

MuddyBottomBluz Posted September 23, 2024 Report Posted September 23, 2024 Off topic, but my neighbor called down the other morning and got a room for $140.00 a night!? A lot better than what I've heard but then again it still is summertime. Quote
