MuddyBottomBluz
Many you know that I speak fondly of my brother-in-law and his experience with Evinrude/Johnson - OMC, back to Evinrude/Johnson and then eventually Bombardier/ E-tec. Not to mention his time with Hewes. So the information I post of 1989 and earlier Hewes comes from him, not me, because I don't don't $h!t about them. I only owned one Hewes and it was a hybrid of a MBG, custom built for Al Pflueger by Maverick and Regal Fiberglass (RFG) the original manufacturer of early Hewes hull and my brother-in-law rigged it. Who is Al Pflueger? So then I get this text message from my brother-in-law after talking to him about another boat he just purchased;

MuddyBottomBluz
I posted the video previously but figured there were a few who never saw it, nice piece of history. Al is a great guy. As a side note when my brother-in-law turned 16 and got his license he drove straight to Bob Hewes Boats and applied for a job and started washing boats and when Hewes sold out to Maverick in 1989 he was the senior shop supervisor and oversaw the rigging, testing and repair of every boat & motor. He decided to go out on his own after the sale of Hewes and has been going strong ever since.
Wanaflatsfish
Growing up in Miami Shores, my father bought me my first Bob Hewes boat - a small sailboat from his shop off 125th st...I believe it was a RFG... I bought my first RF 18 from Joel's in FLL in 2003 and his daughter worked there with Joel. I had the opportunity chat with Bob at many of the boat shows and when he'd be at Joel's....it was a privilege to speak with him.....A True Pioneer in the industry. MuddyBottomBluz
The Hewes family are really good people. My brother-in-law use to visit Bob and his wife often up until the time of Bob's death.
