Maybe new to me hewes 16 bonefisher

Can someone do a search on the boat and show build info if possible . 

Is there wood in it and could it be a "super" 

RGL = Hewes Boat Co (Out of Business)
F1098 = Boat Serial Number
M = HIN format is Model-Year. Always has M at position nine (1972-1984)
75F = Production date January 1975

 

I'm a bit skeptical buying a 48 year old boat with wood

I believe 1989 was the first year they stopped using wood. There was definitely wood in it originally so id expect rot unless the owner has proof of a quality rebuild with composites.

1975 Hewes in original condition has wood, 100%.  All regal built Hewes boats were laid with laminated wood.

This is correct EXCEPT if it was built by Regal, they continued with wood in "89". When MBG moved the production in late "89" the boat was then built/laid up by MBG and it will not have wood.

That boat will have wood and will be thinner than others for those early years.

Thanks for all the replies . I appreciate it . its probably a dry boat located in the west, but being 48 years old im sure it needs some work that im not willing to do ... the search continues .

good decision....there are a lot of opportunities.....anything with wood and is 48 y/o will be a challenge
