Wanaflatsfish Posted January 27, 2024 Report Posted January 27, 2024 considering to upgrade to another model, but, was wondering if the 60" would be too short in the chop...any info would be appreciated...I know longer is better, currently have a 72", but, it's got a good bit of overhang.. please comment dc Quote
George Seither Posted January 27, 2024 Report Posted January 27, 2024 I’ve run 60” on the old Stratos 2100 and the 2300 no issues on the length, don’t believe you’ll have any issues, when the motor comes out the water with 60” it’s to rough for me. Hope it helps Quote
redzone1 Posted January 28, 2024 Report Posted January 28, 2024 I run a 60” Ulterra on my 2018 24TRS. If it’s 1.5’ chop then the prop does cavitate. I wish I had a 72”. If you fish calm protect waters only, then 60” is fine. Quote
Bamaskeet Posted January 28, 2024 Report Posted January 28, 2024 Based on Skips recommendation, I installed a 60” trolling motor on my 2500 on a puck. It’s the perfect length. If you need a longer trolling motor, it’s too rough to fish! Last spring, I replace my 60” Terrova with a 60” Ulterra, this allowed me to launch the trolling motor offshore in sloppy seas without breaking my neck. The Ulterra is high maintenance, but worth the hassle. I kept my Terrova so I’m never without a trolling motor. 1 Quote

Wanaflatsfish Posted January 31, 2024 Author Report Posted January 31, 2024 @ George Seither....thanks so much for your time on the phone over the weekend....I decided to go with the 60" based upon our discussion....thank you....BTW, if it's too short, I'll be looking for you in Lousiana (LOL)...same Bamaskeet...I appreciate your comments....as George and I discussed....if the TM is going airborne in the waves, my Pathy should not be on the reef forum members are great.... dc 1 Quote
