BLAINE
The leaning post on my 2108 23 HPS is corroding badly. I want to get it re-powder coated. Any ideas on where in South Florida I could get that done and how much that would cost? Ttop is fine thankfully (except for one crack which has not gotten worse and will be fixed someday by Outlaw when I finally bring it in). Moderator
The whole leaning post has to come off to be stripped and recoated. It’s not an easy process, and pitting has to be repaired. I have heard of touching it up with a special paint.. MM
reelhooked
MM Any additional info on the kind of paint you are referring to?
Moderator
No I don’t. I remember a post where touch up paint was mentioned. Try posting the powder coat touch-up question in the General forum.. That will get the most views and responses. MM
BLAINE
We are far beyond touch up paint. The corrosion has built up so much under the paint it has split it in numerous places. Plenty of chips too. I know it has to come off but hoping it is just screwed in and not bolted. It appears it started at the cushion hinge bolts, which do not appear to be separated by nylon washers. Moderator
I saw a post on the big boating board where a linex coated TTop frame had the same infiltration beneath the coating that crawled up the legs. Unfortunately, It is not an easy fix. MM
