I remember one owner who cut the holes for the pop up cleat and wiggled in a backing plate and got some screws in it.. then put some adhesive caulk on the plate and lifted it up with screws.. held it tight till the ‘glue’ hardened.. Then he screwed down the popup cleat with a good backing.. I think he tied some small braid to the plate in case he lost it off his finger during the process. Mod Marc..
