73Hewes
Can someone please tell me what these two wires in picture #1 are used for? Also, in picture #2, is there supposed to be anything hooked into this component that I have pointed out or is that just used to bleed air? *****this is the VRO system
JEM
Just a guess, but maybe low oil level alarm?
hurricane
Ya seems like it would be a low level float.
smilemaker
The second picture is probable a remote fill hose connection. Some boats have a hose going to a fill cap mounted on the hull just like fuel cap but smaller. This allows for ease of filling when the tank is difficult to get to. Tarpon1215
Probably an invitation to mix your own. Oil and gasoline that is.o
fin-addict
low level alarm and remote fill would be my guess also. older vro engines, owners disconnected the vro and went to the 50:1 mix due to pump problems just to be safe. mostly on omc engines. I did on mine, 1995 evinrude 150 ocean pro.
DonV
Back in 1985 I bought the first 140 hp "looper" the local dealer sold. It had a cylindrical oil screen/filter in the VRO tank about the size of a cigarette filter. They would gum up and boom, good bye engine, plenty of oil in the tank just no flow out to the engine. OMC came out with a new filter and they seemed to work good. Today we have much, much improved, thinner viscosity two stroke oil to use, synthetic and synthetic blends, if it was me looking at the oil tank pictures and for peace of mind....mix your oil.
