Ohson
Anyone having any issues of "air-lock" on their livewell pumps when running the boat with the pumps on? Just curious if this has come up at all in the stepped hull models. Thanks in advance!
SCFD rtrd.
When I fist took delivery of my boat, I did have problems with air-lock when sitting still. I changed the plumbing, put a 90 degree elbow just after the shut-off, so the strainers and pumps were horizontal instead of vertical. That lowered the pumps by about 10", problem solved. Never had a problem with air-lock while running. So, you are saying you don't have a problem with air-lock sitting still, but do have a problem while running? What about when you first put the boat in the water, does it prime and fill the live-wells?

SCFD rtrd.
Factory live-well pump setup in vertical orientation; Had problems priming. Added a 90 degree elbow after the shut-off to lower the profile of the pumps and strainers; No problem priming
Ohson
Great pic and nice work on those pumps! Appreciate the help! I recently saw another HPS that added elbows very similar to yours.
Pmckh
SCFD rtrd did you add those filters to your pumps? My HPS definitely didn't come with those

JEM
Quote Nice work SCFD. Pmckh, I thought all Pathy's came with strainers. I would definitely call your dealer if you bought new, or Ray at MBG if you are a second hand owner. Even my old 2007 2200V came with strainers. fishmanjj
SCFD had to clean that bilge for the pic...no way...there can be a bilge that clean. On second thought Ron in Atlanta keeps his boat that clean also.
JEM
Haha. You need sunglasses to look at those black hoses!!! Even those strainers don't look like they have ever had seawater run through them.

SCFD rtrd.
Mine did not come with strainers, bought them from Hobo (forum member). I do keep my bilge clean and shine-up the hoses with Starbrite vinyl protectant. Takes about 30 min. once a month.
JEM
Nice. The insides tell me more about a boat and how it's maintained more than the outside! Really nice bilge!! Apparently, the strainers are optional equipment!!!! I wouldn't have thunk that from MBG!
SCFD rtrd.
I guess the strainers are optional, don't know. But, in some areas of the country they don't need strainers. I fish the flats and run my trolling motor a lot and it kicks up lots of stull that gets in the strainer.

Don't know where the "line" is but I have never had a strainer. No problem/need in NC or VA waters.
