mulligan
Just a FYI to anyone trying to match the dark blue on a Vmax, mine is 2005 3.3. I took my cowl to an auto paint supply to get it matched up and the color came back as a 2010 Mercedes dark blue metallic. The color was spot on unlike the Yamaha and ColorRite paint.
nicecast
That's great info! I need to do my lower unit. Changed the prop, shaft and shift seals and had to blow torch the heck out of the shaft area to get the bearing assembly out!
Nauti
Good to know. I've left a few marks on mine that could use a touch-up. (stupid poling platform!!!)
mulligan
I am not sure all the codes are the same but the code for the Nason base coat is #391287 Mercedes 010. When Yamaha put the paint on it was in 3 steps. Black base, blue metallic, then clear.
Island Style
who is doing to repaint? I haven't had any luck finding anyone.
mulligan
I would think most paint/body shop would paint it. There is a place in south Florida called The Outboard Paint Shop that does it for a lot of boat builders. I painted it myself. Still have to sand and buff. lurem
I repainted mine several years ago (got the paint code wrong, looks more black) but I used the local auto body shop to paint mine. I ordered new decals and put them on myself. It's been about 4 years and it still looks good. These are not the best shots, but you get the idea. 3rd engine back in the first picture. Gb Vmax restore
On 11/7/2016 at 7:24 AM, mulligan said: 2010 Mercedes dark blue metallic Can you cite the Mercedes paint code for that “dark blue metallic “ the auto touch up paint site has like a dozen different blues that could be categorized as dark blue metallic in 2010
