Ohson
Anyone lock their removable trolling motor? It's pretty easy take off just curious if someone found a good way to lock it...? thanks
fishmanjj
My Minn Kota RTA - 17 quick release mount has a locking handle with stainless steel pins, that can be secured with a padlock. I just have a brass quick snap type latch in it...but you can put a lock in the same hole.
JEM
I have mine locked with a small brass Master lock that was dipped in rubber. Better safe than sorry. At least it should slow somebody down if they had criminal thoughts!!!
linesider 159
Went Walmart and got a little mini padlock. Spray it with some anti corrosion stuff and you are good to go. If it's bouncing on gel coat you may need to do some rubber tape or similar
Fish Food
Ditto on the above. Find a padlock that fits in the removable mount. I wouldn't run the boat with the lock in place as suggested above: it will bounce around and damage the gel coat. Wrap the body of the lock in a couple of strips of duct tape or spray with rubber spray so it does not damage gel coat. I keep my lock in my boat with my tools in case I need it. I NEVER LEAVE IT ON THE BOAT OVER NIGHT, EVEN IN MY FRONT YARD...I FIGURE EACH TIME I LIFT IT OFF THE BOAT...IT'S $2K TO ME DC
Ksayles44
I have a master lock on mine and I use a couple of small cotter pins to not allow the lock to hit the gel coat. I do only run the boat in fresh water though.

jason p
You're asking for trouble if you leave a TM on the boat. As Dino said, the plastic center of the locking pin can be snapped with just about anything. Here in the 305 a claw hammer or small crow bar to pry with seems to be the weapon of choice. Ohson
Thanks for the replies - appreciate the feedback. All prior boats had TM screwed into deck - this is my first removable one. Thanks again...
JEM
My little brass Master lock with rubberized coating. I'm glad I don't live in 305! HAHA.
mustang190
Even up here I don't leave the motor on the boat unless I can see it.
