TommyG
Does anyone know what the Gross tonnage would be for a 2004 Pathfinder?
CG RYAN
Tommy, this is the formula that the USCG gives to find gross tonnage: If you do not know the GT of your vessel and you know the width, length, and depth, you can use this calculation to get the GT: Length x Width x Depth x .67 divided by 100. TommyG
Thanks, I am applying for a Capt. license and need to figure it out. not sure of the depth of boat but went with 5' so I got 6.63. 22'x8.5x5x.67 /
smilemaker
That is probably be a little generous on depth. . Remember it is a modified V hull and not a displacement hull. I am not sure but I think by depth they actually mean draft of the boat. LxWxDraft will give you the volume of water displaced and when that volume of water is multiplied by .67/100 gives the weight of that water. Correct me if I am wrong but tonnage is based on displacement not weight of the boat. A little research and it is the volume of the entire vessel above and below the waterline. It doesn't include above the deck capabilities so where do you take measurements for depth. from the true deck or straight across the freeboard
