Paid Up
I need some opinions. I need new tires for my Ameritrial and have been through 2 sets of Marathon's and over the years both sets of tires have separated. I am not saying its a bad tire but wanted to try something different. I have kept air pressure up and the boat is stored inside and I figured I should get more milage out of them. Probably put less than 4,000 miles a year on them. What brand tires is everyone running and do you like them? Thanks for the input. Todd
Bamaskeet
Maxxis seems to be the tire that most people like. I have them on two trailers with no issues. i buy mine at Discount Tires Direct and then have Walmart mount and balance them.
Dawgfan
I bought Carlisle tires last, load range E and had them balanced at Firestone. I've put about 3500 miles on them since last spring with no issues and I keep the pressure correct. I also don't tow any faster than 70 MPH as you have to remember that trailer tires are only rated for 65 MPH. At the end of the day, I think all trailer tires are made in China so I'm not sure there is really a conversation to be had over "Quality". If you maintain the pressure, don't drive too fast and your trailer tire size is not undersized for the load, problems will hopefully be far a few between. My two cents.....Merry Christmas! SCFD rtrd.
Lots of folks are transitioning to light truck tires for their boat trailers. Look at THT and search trailers tires. No one who has switched to light truck tires has anything bad to say about switching. Also, the guys that tow travel trailers (RV's) are switching to light truck tires. Wanaflatsfish
Maxxis or Kumho seem to be popular..I have Maxxis on mine.. Key things: 1.) be sure to have them balanced 2.) Use stainless steel stems dc
