Lowcountry Joe
What are you using for trolling motor batteries in a 24v system, group 27, 31, or 34 or any other group ?
whichwaysup
I use 27's in my 87 MA, but only because that's all that the console. My 2000 MA also has group 27s, but they came with the boat. I've never had a problem with them not having enough capacity, but I generally charge every night after a trip. polliwog
I also use a 27 group on my 20ft LT Hewes and have no problem with capacity, but I don't put 3 hrs or more each outing. For those who use them all day may want to chime in. The center console on my boat will accept a larger battery, but you have to go through all sort of gyrations to get them in. Bamaskeet
I recommend group 31 AGM. You don't have to climb in the console to add water. SAMs has the best deal at $179 ea.
Wanaflatsfish
For a PF - 31's AGM Deka, don't look back.. dc
Grant
Been running 27 AGM's for 12 years. On my second set of Cabelas brand. Never had a power issue aside from replacing the set at 9 years.
whichwaysup
If you like AGM batteries and Optimas in particular, check out streetside auto - absolutely the best prices I could find anywhere by far and free shipping. Sign up with them and they run nutty specials like 15% off on top of the lowest prices on these things. No affiliation, just passing along. Drummer
I use 2 group 27s I got from Advance Auto Parts. So far so good, and they run the motor pretty much all day in pretty heavy current.
Capt. Tyler
I have a 36V using th West Marine AGM Group 31's. Love them so far, readily available and good warranty. I'd just get two for a 24V
SCFD rtrd.
I bought two group 27 AGM from Sams Club about one year ago (Duracell). No problems so far. They last the entire day, but like whichwaysup says, I charge them every night.
triplec
I run 31 AGMs.
FunFlatsFishing
31 AGMs from SAMs. Duracell is the brand. You'd be surprised, It's the exact same battery (minus the sticker) as many of the higher cost batteries like Deka.

Thats because the Duracells from Sam's are made by East Penn Manufacturing which also makes Deka.
FunFlatsFishing
Exactly. They also make the West Marine brand battery which costs $319.
smilemaker
Not to hijack or open a big discussion but if you pick up a deca or sears diehard and then a Sam's Duracell you will feel the difference. In the manufacturing process the lead can be new or recycled Warranty is another factor With all said I still use Duracell for the value.
