Lowcountry Joe
So one of my spreader lights doesn't work, and I thought I would start with the switch. My switch has four tabs on the back , is this a DPDT switch? Can someone show me a diagram of the back of the switch showing the input and output of the switch. I can't figure out which wires go to the forward and aft spreader lights. Thanks in advance for any help provided.
SCFD rtrd.
Usually the center tabs are the 12 volt in or hot from the breaker. The tabs at the bottom and top are the 12 volt out (in your case, to the lights). Can you test the switch by connection your tester to a negative wire , then test the center tabs to see if they are getting 12 volts, then throw the switch up or down and test the top or bottom tabs to see if they are getting 12 volts. If you have 12 volts on all tabs, then the switch is ok.
mulligan
On a 4 post DPDT it is just like SCFD said. Center is incoming hot, bottom is outgoing when you switch up, top outgoing when switch down, and one is ground if you have backlight on the switch.
