trim tab circuits

Recommended Posts

Unless some one rewired, I am 99.9% sure all power lines are fused. Follow power wire from switch on helm to fuse block.

Every once in a while, usually nav lights, I'll flip a switch and nothing. I will check fuse and good. I clean the fuse legs and voila power. It takes very little corrosion to break the circuit.

If it doesn't work right away, try to clean the fuse block seat. I used a very fine emory board, gently and a q-tip with some alcohol to clean.

If that doesn't work maybe the actual connection to the fuse block.

You could have a bad trim tab motor and the fuse is doing what it should. Check your trim tab wires in the bilge. A connector could have gone south on you, too. I hope it's the connector and not the motor. If you have the duetsch connectors, replace with anchor insulated, heat shrink butt connectors and use another heat shrink over the connector. I have seen a number of post lately about the duetsch going bad.
